User Profile Service – There was no endpoint listening

While attempting to setup a new User Profile Service AD synchronization connection, I received the following error message:

 

There was no endpoint listening at http://server:5725/ResourceManagementService/Enumeration that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.

 

 

 

 

The first thing to check if you receive this error message is to see if the “Forefront Identity Manager Service” (FIMService) is running.

 

You can check this through services.msc or with the following PowerShell command:

 

 

If it is stopped, start it up:

 

 

Once the FIMService is started, go back to central admin and try to configure your synchronization connection again.
